The activation demo allows you to try out the process of activating the Mini vMac Variations, and make sure activation will work for you on your computer. It is simply one more variation of Mini vMac, except that it doesn't use the same activation codes as the rest.

The demo is compiled with the options :
"-drives 16 -hres 640 -vres 512 -sony-sum 1 -sony-tag 1".
Which means it allows more disk images (up to 16, instead of 6), has a larger emulated screen (640 by 512 instead 512 by 342), and it supports checksums and file tags when using disk images in the disk copy 4.2 format.

To use the activation demo, download the appropriate version for your computer from the links on the left side of this page. Extract the application from the archive, and into the same folder, place a Macintosh Plus ROM image file, named “vMac.ROM”, just as is needed for the standard compile of Mini vMac. When you launch this variation, it will prompt you for an "activation code". Type "275 227 140 839". It is expecting you to type digits (0-9). You can type the spaces, but they are ignored. You can correct mistakes with the backspace (delete) key. When you type the last digit, you should see the message "Activation succeeded". Type 'C' to dismiss this message.

Quit from Mini vMac (Control-Q) and then relaunch the activation demo. It should not prompt for an activation code. To be even more certain, shut down your computer, turn it on again, launch the activation demo, and again verify that it doesn't ask for an activation code.

If this all works, you can proceed to buy an activation code for the rest of the Mini vMac variations.
